ARTIST PROFILE

Michael. C. Dircks.

 

Having been educated in the field of maths and science, I did not pick up a pencil/pen to "draw art" until the age of 25. So I am basically self taught. In order to improve my techniques and learn new skills, I spent 2 years full-time/4 years part-time at TAFE Colleges in Perth and Cairns studying courses in Fine Art, Design and Printmaking.

My style, techniques and media used are varied and each has their own personality, quality and influences - from the fine, detailed precision of line and image of pencil drawings and printmaking to the more expressive, colourful, spontaneous imagery of the oil and mixed media paintings I hope that my artwork will touch people's emotions, psyche, social values, visual faculties and thus make them experience a reaction to what they are seeing.
